Kevin received Rensselaer Medal Award with the opportunity of $120,000 scholarship to RPI.
Mithun received Yale Book Award.
Ford competed in and won the 2022 Perennial Math National Championship for 6th grade (third year in a row)! He also took the first places for 6th grade (small school Division) in the Pizitz Middle School, Homewood Middle School and Jefferson County math tournaments.

In the most recent Mathcounts Competition (state level), the largest middle school tournament in the US, Allan placed first with a perfect score (very rare), Albert placed second, and Tina placed fourth. The top four winners will represent Alabama in the National Mathcounts in May. Hooray!

In the State Mathcounts Competition today, Courtney was placed second, and Eileen was placed fourth. Both of them made it into the state team of four, and will represent Alabama in National Mathcounts Competition. Each of these two students will receive $50 Math Bucks as rewards. In addition, Eric, Jack and James (6th grader) were placed in the top 12 in the state tournament. Congratulations to these kids!

In the Berry Simmons Middle School Math Tournament today, seven fifth graders and one fourth grader took part in the sixth grade division representing Birmingham Youth Math Academy. We took back 5 trophies out of the 10 in 6th grade division III, along with 2nd place team trophy.The team trophy was really made out team work. Jack, Eric, Eileen and David did a wonderful job working together. Those who got individual trophies are Kevin (2nd place. In the 2013 Pizitz Math Tournament today, David got 4th, Debbie got 7th place in the 6th grade division. For the 7th graders, Andy got 7th place. Congratulations!

With mostly 5th graders from Birmingham Youth Math Academy, we scored 6 out of the total 10 trophies ( David X, 2nd, Eric W, 3rd; Fencing Eric, 5th; David W, 6th; Eileen L, 8th; and Kelvin Y, 10th), with 2nd place team trophy in 6th grade large school division. For the 7th graders, Emily S, Andy K, and Richard F scored 2nd, 3rd, and 5th places (all scored > 90 points!). We also took home the third place team trophy in the 7th grade large school division!

Andy (3rd in Individual, 3rd in Team, grade 6) and Emily (6th in Individual, 3rd in Team, grade 6) won trophies in 2012 Pizitz Middle School Math Tournament! Congratulations! Over 1200 middle school kids competed in this tournament. Our kids all did pretty well, but due to large number of participates, Some students did not win trophies. Please keep up with the hard work!
